TeitlLetter from John Jones to his brother William Jones of Plas Gwyn [the younger]
DisgrifiadRefers to the recent death of his uncle Francis [in London], and is very much afraid that his uncle's affairs will be found uncommoded by his speculations in South Sea stock. Gives a list of the relatives and friends who folowed him to his grave, and seems to quote his deceased brother's last will (but more the especially the codicil) which demised Bryngwallan, once (if not then) the home of his aunt Ann [wife of William Williams of Bryngwallan], to his brother John, the writer. That codicil seems to be dated 9 Nov . , 1721. The letter has no date, but it must have been written either at the end of Novemeber or beginning of December in that year. In a postcript he gives his humble duty to his father [W.J. , the elder], his mother, and his grandmother, referring also to his brother Owen, also in London; to his wife who was Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Vincent of London. The letter is especially interesting as throwing welcome light on the Plas Gwyn colony in London - the dead uncle Francis [who can be surmised to have been a cabinet-maker], John himself in the silk trade, and Owen, who is dignified in the Pedigrees (104) as "Sir Owen Jones".
