Description | The first of these books gives particulars of the sums due to individual tradesmen, inn-keepers, etc. for the entertainment of the electors. Many of the sums charged are patently extortionate - a fact which does not escape the scrutinisers of the accounts. The second book itemises the actual disbursements made by Hugh Price, the election agent, to the creditors. These amount to £8373.8.0. - a not inconsiderable sum, but a pittance compared with that expended on junketting and entertainment generally during the 1832 election in the Caernarvon boroughs |
AdminHistory | The succesful candidate was Nicholas Bayly of Plas Newydd, who defeated Owen Putland Meyrick of Bodorgan - see Williams : Party History of the Principality of Wales p.7) |
