DescriptionPaul Panton of Plasgwyn seeks a place for his nephew whon "I offered to send... to the University, but as he could not suck in Greek enough for the church, I am obliged to alter his destination" (2104). More applications for customs posts at Conway and Caernarvon (2105-2113). In 2129 we have a petition signed by Robert Roberts of Holyhead, who describes himseld as the "author of the Welsh Geography" (he was the well known Welsh almanacker) written at the request of the Calvinistic Methodists of Anglesey, and on behalf of the "numerous poor and decayed miners... of Penysarn near Amlwch, who are far removed from any place of worship". He prays that the Marquess will grant a 99 year lease on an acre of ground - "the poorest part of Croesau Gwynion near Pensarn", - to erect a chapel and house thereon. The request is refused, the Marquess conceiving that he "should not be justified either morally or politically in promoting a form of worship which differs so materially from the Protestant Religion as established by law". (2132). Another lease, but for a smoewhat different purpose, is requested by a Bangor druggist, who claims he has discovered "some mine" at Garth near Bangor (2136)
