TitleThe Chester - Holyhead Railway
DescriptionInclude correspondence between Timothy Tyrrell, solicitor to the Chester-Holyhead Railway Company, and Thomas Beer agent to the Plas Newydd estate, regarding the projected line. 2415 reflects the alarm felt at the possibility of the Menai Bridge being used to carry the line across. Robert Stephenson the engineer (son of George Stephenson) is consulted on the matter, but he can give no definite information in view of the incompleteness of the plans at that stage. A copy of "The Morning Herald" for Wednesday, October 25th 1843 is included, giving the report of J. Walker Esq., Civil Engineer, on the repective merits of communication with Ireland. 2421-2423 are Thomas Beer's observations on the railway project, with a list of the terms submitted to the promoters on behalf of the Marquess of Anglesey and a valuation of such of the Plas Newydd lands as would be required for the construction of the line
