Disgrifiad | Known locally as Chwarel yr Allt, this small quarry at the upper end of Llyn Peris and producing in its day a somewhat inferior type of slate, was situated on land called Tyddyn Bayly, owned by the Pagets, and was, it appears, developed as a going concern by the first Marquess of Anglesey. In 1850 it was leased by the latter to one Owen Owens described as a Slate Mason of Rotherhithe, Surrey, who together with his son Edward Owens, worked it under the name of Owens and Co. until about 152 whien they were ejected by the Marquess for breach of covenant. |
