DescriptionThe strong Tory sentiments of the ruling classes in Anglesey is reflected in the address of loyalty and congratulations which they presented to King George III in 1784 on the occasion of the fall of the Fox-North Ministry, and the coming to power of the younger Pitt (3351). From the loyal inhabitants of Caernarvon in 1812 goes up another address - this time to the Prince Regent, condoling with him on the "atrocious morder of Spencer Percival" (3369). The return of the wounded but triumphant Marquess from the field of Waterloo does not pass withour the felicitations of his friends in the island; J.H. Hampton of Henllys curses "from his heart...the shot that has deprived the country of his services" (3377)
