TitleCounty Election of 1796 (Sir Robert Williams, Bt., 690, Lord Penrhyn, 370)
Letter from Thomas William of Llanidan to Lord Uxbridge (addressed fro Kinmel)
DescriptionOpens with the news that Sir Robert Williams does not intend to stand - this from Sir Robert himself. But the writer is not too sure whether his word can be relied upon. Both he and Lord Bulkeley are bad instruments to work with, but unfortunately "we most make the most of them" at present. Meanwhile from Denbighshire comes a report that Uxbridge and Bulkeley have gor Lord Newborough a promise of a peerage in return for his interest - which is of course nothing but an election trick invented by "our oponents"
