DescriptionJanuary brings a War Office remainder that the county is again behind with its Militia Returns; ballotting, however, goes on apace - "the ballotted men and parish officers are doing their utmost and the Deputy - Lieutenants hold their meetings twice and sometimes thrice a week". Substitutes are "very scarce and some are paid as high as £60 and more per man" (922). The new establishment of the Royal Anglesey Militia comes under consideration; it is finally fixed at two companies consisting of 8 officers and 129 other ranks (925, 926, 927)
