Description | Probate of the will (d.September 1631) of LEwis Bayly, Bishop of Bangor. Bequeaths all his lands to his wife Anne Bayly, and after her, to his son Nicholas Bayly and in default of any issue of his, to his daughter Ellinor Bayly. Other bequests include a gilt cup with cover to Magdalen Bagnall "in remembrance of her unfained love towards me and myne"; £5 to his son John Bayly, D.D.; £40 to his son Theodore Bayly; his "studdy of bookes" to his son Thomas Bayly; £50 to his grandchild Lewis Bayly, son of Theophilus Bayly, deceased; £5 to the town of Carmarthen to buy a bell; £5 to the poor of Bangor; 40/- to the poor of Llangristiolus. If his wife should remarry and dislike the provision for educating his son Nicholas Bayly, she is to pay £40 a year towards his maintenance after he has attained the age of 13 |
