Description | The papers cover not only the years when Hugh Ellis held the office of treasurer but also the last few years of Owen Jones, his predecessor. Besides a copy of the order of the quarter session appointing the two treasurers, they consist mainly of general statements of the county finances, both in revenue and expenditure. Several account books extent from 1795 to 1808 and documents dealing with expenditure in the form of orders for the payment of bills against the county are very complete for the same years. Revenue papers are not so complete for these years, the county rate accounts only extending from 1796 to 1798 and for 1809, for part of the county; though by some chance, papers of a similar nature for later years have survived. |
