Description | The greater part of this unit deals with the maintenance aspect of the militia levies from 1793 to 1808, and they take the form of accounts between Caernarvon and its neighbouring counties for substitutes, accounts between the county and individual parishes and the claims of individual militiamen's families. Interspersed among them during the period are such documents as certificates of enlistment, proceedings against several parishes for deforciencies under the militia acts, a form of agreement for raising a provisional force of cavalry, and the bills and receipts of the transport expeses of the Royal Artillery and the Dragoons. Outside the period and of a later date are miscellaneous papers dealing with one or two deserters and fragmentary papers of a militia club at the "fore and sixpence", Caernarvon in 1822 |
