TitleGwynfryn
DescriptionThis group is naturally divided under devolution papers (PYA/16323-16538) and letters (PYA/16539-16788); and the similarity between the two estates (Glynllifon and Gwynfryn) extends to the nature of the documents, since the Gwynfryn estate also experienced six court actions, in the exchequer, the chancery or in the king's bench, between 1747 and 1824. But the actions in this case only affected individual tenements within the estate, and the majority of the devolution papers, in which marriage settlements and morgage deeds predominate, do not necessarily spring from the actions.
Most of the letters are those of David Ellis Nanney, attorney general of the North Wales Circuit and a counsel whose opinion was very much sought after.
