| Description | In its origin, this group is the outcome of the industrial activities of John Evans, for the Cilgwyn Slate Company in the impetus of its early ambitions purchased the Treflan estate which lay in the vicinity of the company's two quarries. In 1819 the company sold one quarter of the estate to Evans and six years later he took over the remainder. The estate was disposed of by auction in 1843. The papers illustrate these transactions and in addition contain references to the aftermath of the Llanbeblig and Llanrug enclosure as far as it affected the estate. |
