TitleLetter from J. Jones to Hugh Ellis at Caernarvon
DescriptionA “dark design” is afoot, and there will shortly be a meeting of magistrates to lay the matter before the Lord Lieutenant. A bilingual spy (presumably an ex-soldier) has been reconnoitring the sea coast, and has given out that pikes are being made day and night at Braich y Cafn. The Lord Lieutenant is expected to despatch a military force to deal with the situation, of which, apparently, “the mischief originates in Denbighshire”
