TitleLetter book of Allan and Thomas Searell
DescriptionCorrespondence over interests in Devon. Inquiries about prices of railway waggons, bridge rails, smiths' bellows. Brother's departure for New Zealand. Asked to report on quarries as far away as Ireland (p.3). Fatal accident at Hafod y Llan (p.60). Death of Allen Searell, October 25th, 1865 (p.66). His duties devolve upon son Thomas. Financial difficulties on account of his father's commitments at Cefncam. Several Hafod Cost-Sheets. Thomas becomes a Member of the Society of Arts and writes M.S.A. after his name.

N.B. Searell did not have a satisfactory system of filing his correspondence. Usually he had more than one letter book going at the same time. The result is that a researcher must often have two (and sometimes) three manuscripts open before him to secure the proper sequence. Nor did the son improve upon the father. Within the one letter book the correspondence is almost invariably arranged in strict order of date.
