| Description | References to marriage settlement of 1746 (TRALL/14-16), the purchase of Glasfryn Fawr from Harley Vaughan in 1761 (TRALL/8), and to the provisions of Francis Lloyd's will (TRALL/21) - this marriage was evidently meant to straighten out numerous complications arising from various mortgages and bonds on both sides (if J.E.G.'s 'Pedigrees' are correct, the bride was 44 years of age).
Several interesting points: Glasfryn Fawr (with the Trallwyn lands) is brought into the jointure arrangements; Harley Vaughan, described merely as "of Leicester" in 1761, is in 1783 referred to as "now Serjeant at Law"; Trallwyn is described as "otherwise Y Dallwyn".
There are two documents, both of them showing plenty of signs that they were revised by Hugh Ellis, the Caernarvon attorney who was closely related to the Lloyds of Trallwyn. The chief trustee was the Rev. Richard Nanney of Bachwen by Clynnog, descended from the Nanneys of Cefndeuddwr and uncle of David Ellis Nanney of Gwynfryn ('Pedigrees', 165). |
