AdminHistory | His father - John Ellis, who assumed the name of Lloyd, had died in Febr., 1855 - was the son of John Ellis, rector of Llanystumdwy. John Ellis Lloyd makes it clear in the return that he was a descendent of a sister of the Rev William Lloyd "from whom the said Property is derived". This is undoubtedly the case, but the 'Pedigrees' (212) say quite dogmatically that the Trallwyn lands 'descended from Ann, niece of William Lloyd, daughter of his brother Hugh', not niece, but sister, which accords exactly with W.L's will, who refers to the Rev John Ellis of Llanystumdwy as his 'nephew'.
