AdminHistoryDavid Robinson chose Bangor University specifically for the mountaineering opportunities. He studied Wood Science at the Forestry Department in the early 1970s. He took part in the 1972 Inter-Universities Expedition to Afghanistan - the youngest of a 6 man team. He graduated in 1973 and remained in Bangor and in 1976 he purchased a cottage in Deiniolen, Gwynedd.

In December 1978, he and his climbing companion took on the Matterhorn and made a successful ascent of the North Face but, tragically, David fell to his death on 28 December 1978. He is buried at the Mountaineers' Cemetery in Zermatt.

Michael Sol Owen refers to David Robinson in his bilingual book "Eiliad / Echoing" published in 2023.
