| AdminHistory | David Robinson chose Bangor University specifically for the mountaineering opportunities. He studied Wood Science at the Forestry Department in the early 1970s. He took part in the 1972 Inter-Universities Expedition to Afghanistan - the youngest of a 6 man team. He graduated in 1973 and remained in Bangor and in 1976 he purchased a cottage in Deiniolen, Gwynedd.
In December 1978, he and his climbing companion took on the Matterhorn and made a successful ascent of the North Face but, tragically, David fell to his death on 28 December 1978. He is buried at the Mountaineers' Cemetery in Zermatt.
