AdminHistory | Isaac Gwilym Bevers was born in 1893 in London, the son of two teachers, Walter and Margaret Bevers. He moved to North Wales with his mother, sister and brother when his father died in 1901. Margaret came from North Wales originally and moved back to her family home when she was widowed. She had gone to London to work and there had met her husband, a teacher from Yorkshire. Isaac became a student at UCNW and graduated in 1914 with a 3rd class honours in Chemistry. After leaving College he joined the RWF - was wounded in Gallipolli and died of wounds in France, August 1917. His sister, Jennett Catherine Bevers also appears in the UCNW student registers. Although she did not graduate she appears to have a College Certificate TTD (Teacher Training Diploma) in 1916. |
