  <dc:title>Diary of John Matthews (A)</dc:title>
<dc:description>Being a record of his surveying work and allied activities. A very wet summer, as witness his suddenly paying 16/- for mowing the meadows by the mill, "being alarmed by the rising of the river." Corn not harvested before 12-18 October; he noticed much corn not gathered on 9-10 November and much corn got in on 2 of some month. References to the elder Thomas Gee (November and 30 December), and to a copper mine enterprise (21 November, 17 December). Opposite 30 April there is a rare and refreshing entry - "doing nothing."</dc:description>
