The chief figures are Thomas, Viscount Bulkeley, Richard, his son and heir (who about a year later was killed in the duel on Lavan Sends) and Sir Roger Mostyn. The Mostyn-Bulkeley connection was exceedingly intimate in the Commonwealth period, for not only was young Richard married to one Mostyn, but his sister Mary was to be married to another 30 December 1648 - 3 January 1649
