Deed of mortgage by William Griffith of Coedaney and Jane his wife, to Owen Thomas ap Hoell ap Griffith of the same upon Tyddyn Butler ,"wherein and whereupon one Richard ap Meredith alias Y Buttler did dwell and inhabitt", in Mathafarn Wion; terms of redemption, payment of £22 on the feast of All Saints,1599, at the house of Owen Thomas in Llanbedr [Goch]. Rather carelessly drawn up: the term is 1589 in the body of the document, with 1599 on the margin; even the incorrect 1589 was written 1588 at first. It is pretty certain that this W.G. was of Neuadd Coedana, a scion of the Griffith's of Parys, themselves offshoots of the Griffith family of Penrhyn (Pedigrees, 306) 13 February 1598-1599
