Matters of variance between uncle and nephew in Elernion Richard Evans, rector of Llanaelhaiarn and Richard Evans, gentlemen [Sheriff of Carn. in 1625]: doom and award of Morris ap John ap Morris of Penmorfa and Harri Humphreys of Nantlle. The substance of the award lies in the nephew dismortgeging Caere, which the rector held by lease of many years and which he had mortgaged [part of it] to David Lloyd Nanney, and which it took [altogether] £175 to redeem, in return for the enfeoffment of the messuage to himself [Richard Evans, gent.]. The worst of it was that the latter could prove Caere to be his own freehold and inheritance after his father Humphrey, and his grandfather Evan ap Hugh ap Madog of Elernion; but there was no denying the re-entrant lease, the mortgage and the failure of the rector to redeem. The witnesses were Elis Brynkir, whose sister Mary was married to Richard Evans the nephews; Hugh Evans of Llanllyfni, clerious; Maurice Wynne; and Hugh Rowland of Penmorfa 15 January 1618-1619
