Letter from Sir Orlando Bridgeman to the Lord Viscount Bulkeley from Chester A very prompt acknowledgment of Bulkeley's elevation to the peerage, as the patent was only granted at Oxford on Jan. 6 (incidentally another proof that the Pedigrees, 42, are quite inaccurate in dating it Jan 19). He has paid £50 to Captain Bartlett's seamen, and wishes the Viscount to pay them £50 in addition, "the men being apt to mutiny"; he points out that, nevertheless, they are good seamen, and that their ship will be for the safety of the N.W. coast and for the benefit of the [King's] commerce and trade 13 January 1643
