Letter from George Digby [spelt by him Digbye], one of Charles I's principal Secretaries of State in the early stages of the Civil War, and later second Earl of Bristol, to Captain Bartlett, from Oxford Refers to the captain and his two ships as being the only defenders of the Irish service between Chester and Dublin, and reports that the Lord Bulkeley will furnish him with £200 worth of provisions, his Lordship to be repaid by £200 which Mr Salisbury of Bach-y-graig [“Backagrig”] will forthwith bring to Beaumaris 9 March 1643
