Resolutions [copy only] of representative Cavalier gentlemen of three N. Western counties of Wales in answer to propositions from the King's headquarters that more money be levied in support of his cause Ascent, to £1,600, distributed over July-September. They point out serious difficulties - want of trade, devastation caused by the enemy, free quartering of H.N.’s soldiers, &c. Hope to be recompensed for loss caused by such quarterings, partly by being allowed to appropriate the estates and goods of delinquents [partisans of the Parliament) No superscription, but must have been addressed to a person of high importance (possibly George Digby). There is a temptation to think that "your lordship" was the Viscount Bulkeley; but, however deeply committed he was to the Royal cause and fully trusted as a staunch supporter of great influence, he was never in the position envisaged in this document. The curious thing is that his name is absent from the list of attestations; the one representative of the family is Rowland Bulkeley of Porthamel (and the Bulkeleys of Porthamel were by 1645 very distant cousins indeed) 5 June 1645
