Record of the votes polled in the co. Anglesey Parliamentary elect (April, 1725, or Sept., 1727- the document having no date whatsoever, with exactly the same candidates in both elections). The final vote stood thus; Hugh Williams, 194; Thomas Lloyd, 162. H.W. was grandson of Sir William Williams the speaker and sometine Solicitor General, and represented Anglesey from 1725 to 1734; Thomas Lloyd of Llanidan was the somewhat degenerate descendant of the ancient house of Lligwy (Pedirpees,135). However, he received the support of the traditional enenies of the Bulkeley interest, of whom H.W. was the nominee - one sees Owen Meyrick of Bodorgan at the very head of the list (p.1), and on p.14 a powerful group, including Sir Edward Bayly of Plas Newydd, David Lloyd of Llwydiarth, Richard Hampton of Henllys, Lloyd Bodvel of Bodfan in Caernarvonshire, and his son William, who for a time held the Madryn inheritance; John Sparrow of Red Hill (p.15) is still alive to vote for Thomas Lloyd, the obstreperous High Sheriff of 1708 who was accused of nullifying several votes given, or meant to be given, for Viscount Bulkeley (Baron Hill, 5524-5) 1720s
