  <dc:description>John Emrys Thomas [born 10th November, 1890, Waunfawr] entered the University in 1913 where he studied Welsh and History. He joined the North Wales Comrades Battalion ("Pals Battalion") on the outbreak of the First World War where he became 2nd Lieutenant. He returned to University and became the President of the S.R.C. [1921-22] before graduating with a B.A. 2nd Class Honours. In 1922 he took up position as an Organiser under the War Savings Commission, after which he became Commssioner until 1935.</dc:description>
