<dc:title>Letter from Col. Charles Henry Darbishire to Charles Stephen Darbishire</dc:title>
<dc:description>Col. Darbishire, at the age of 70, tried to join up with the Volunteer Army Unit in 1915, but was refused. As a result he bought the uniform of a private soldier and tickets to sail to Egypt where the Volunteers had been sent - but was sent home.

This letter was written on his voyage to Egypt, telling of the journey and offering advice to his son regarding the running of the quarry.</dc:description>
