Letter from John Jones, Surveyor, of Llanbedr, Ruthin, to Sir John Thomas Stanley. Submitting his estimate for "the great dam to be done in Anglesea", further apprehends that the expense of completing the road over the sands from the 5 mile stone to the 6 mile stone will be £246 and if the dam is not built the present road will be no signification for the tide will overflow it. therefore the present road including the dam will cost £846 while the new road over the marsh just by it will cost only £369.7.7. and will be perfectly safe from the tide at all times without any dam being made. 4 December 1775
