AdminHistoryThis John Stanley undoubtedly acted as agent to the first Sir William Griffith [who succeeded to the estate in 1440], and was very probably a close relative, Sir William's mother being Joan, daughter of Sir William Stanley of Hooton (he is probably the John Stanley who appears in the Hooton pedigree of Ormerod's Hist.Cheshire,ii,416).
