Disgrifiad | Testator makes the following monetary bequests : to his aunt Elizabeth Bythell £50 p.a. for life; to his cousin Mary Bolton £50 p.a. for life after the death of his aunt; to his daughter in law Bathshua May £100 Jamaica p.a.; and to Richard May, Florentius May, George May and Rose Hering May £500 Jamaica each. He leaves 1700 Capital Bank Stock to his sisters Joan Mill and Ithamar Mill and names them as the executrixes of this clause. He leaves his son in law Dr Rose Fuller for the term of his life and after his death to Bonella Pennant, wife of John Pennant Esq. on condition that she confirms the sale of a negro man called Ceasar to the testator. He bequeaths the land of Grange Pen, the house built there called Gregorys Pen and his share of Charltons to Dr Rose Fuller for the term of his life and after his death to his son in law Florentius Vassall. He then makes further monetary bequests as follows to William May Clerke, John Campbell Esq. and Edmund Hyde Esq, £50 Jamaica each, to Edward North son of William Henry North of Spanish Town £100 sterling; to Florentius Vassal £100 to the use of Hannah Ottey wife of Mark Ottey "to be for her own Separate use"; to Richard Bathurst Jnr. £500 Jamaica to be paid from the mortgage interest money due from his father Richard Bathurst; to Richard and Elizabeth Vassall £500 Jamaica each to be paid from the Book Debt owing from their Father Florentius Vassal; to the trustees of the Charity School in Kingston £200 Jamaica; to his sisters Joan Mill and Ithmar Mill £100 sterling each and the arrears of an annuity of £250 sterling which he now allows them. He also subjects all his estate bequesthed in this will to the payment of other annuities of £75 which he granted of other annuities of £75 which he granted to his sisters in a deed dated April 26, 1737. He bequeaths his negro man named Caesar and his negro woman called Bess to Dr Rose Fuller for the term of his life and after his death they are to manumised. He also leaves the sum of £5 to be paid to Bess half yearly for the term of her life. He names Dr Rose Fuller as his residuary legatee and also as his executor. After his death Edmund Hyde is to be executor. Appended memorandum of renouncement (dated July 2, 1739) by Mark Ottey of the parish of St Catherine, bookkeeper and Hannah his wife of legacy bequeathed to Hannah Ottey. First codicil appended (dated August 2, 1738). Testator directs that is any of the children of Batshua May Clarke die before reaching the age of 16, then they money bequeathed to them is to be given to any further children of Batshua May Clarke. Second codicil appended (dated January 23, 1738-9). Testator directs that his negro man named Caesar and his negro woman called Bass are to be set free upon his death and that Bess is to receive her annuity from the day of his death. He also directs that Adue the son of Bess is to be set free and he leaves £10 to be used by his executor "to put him out apprentice to a Taylor". |
