TeitlLetter from C. M. S. Patterson at Anglesey, to Mrs [W.W.] Kenrick
DisgrifiadThe Fair Oak Colliery and its associated houses are all empty, and the Colliery is likely not to start up again for 2 or 3 years. Alice Spooner is not a good teacher, and she and Ryder have shocked everyone by their behavior - he put his arm around her in front of the children at school. News of his sister's wedding in Lichfield Cathedral. A new row of labourers' cottages has been built, and his privacy is invaded - "I have been longing that some Fenians would come and blow them up with Dynamite - so long as they would not hurt anyone". The Parish Tea will shortly be held; the Harvest Festival was a great success - "Ryder and Alice Spooner spooned over decorations so that the place was fearfully wonderfully garnished."
Good wishes and request for photographs.
