DescriptionA copy of Ephemerides of the Celestial motions and Aspects, Eclipses of the Luminaries, & c. for XX years. Beginning Anno 1682 and ending An. 1701 ... By John Gadbury . London, MDCLXXX. Scattered throughout the volume are entries in the hands of Richard Thomas of Trescawen (Llangwyllog, Anglesey) (d.1722) and his son William Prichard. The entries are of a miscellaneous character, including accounts of pilcorn, barley, malt, sheep and lambs sold; of servants' and labourers' wages; money lent to various persons; books lent; copies of legal documents (Indenture of Apprenticeship, tenancy agreements, etc.); an assessment on the commote of Tyndaethwy in 1716; medical recipes ('Magnetick cure of ulcers', 'Of a horse that is witched', 'The method of Curinge by Sympathy of the things necessary for the Physician before he undertakes the Practice of Magical Physicke', 'How to make a magnet to cure diseases. Take ye blood of a sound young man drawn in the Springe (there are every where fooles enough) ...', etc.). Under the year 1690 occurs the following entry : 'In this yeare it made a very dry Spring weather very good for sowinge Oates and peace...'.
Other inscriptions included 'Willielmus filius Richardi thomas et Graciae Hughes baptizatus fuit Secundo die maii Annoque & c. 1686' (inside front cover); 'Richard Thomas is the possessor of this Booke 1697' (margin) and 'I Wm. Prichard was eighteen years old when I write this (in 1704)'
