Description | Some are temp. Henry VIII, some Edward VI, one as late as 10 Sept., 1565. Possibly the latter date will be approximately correct. The most interesting entry is the first, the fee farm granted to Simon Thelwal of Plas y Ward, co. Denbigh, upon the tenement of Dyffryn Mymbyr, at a yearly rent of 50/-, on 4 April, 1565 - Thelwall was now getting on in years, having married his third wife Margaret, sister of the third Sir William Griffith. There is a very quaint touch in the seventh, with its reference to a tenement called Tyddyn Llidiard Mallt (in a lease dated 6 Decr., 1547). Bodvayo and Cororion mostly. |
