DescriptionParticular emphasis that the agents and foremen should be humane to the negroes generally, and especially not to overlook the women and children; continual danger in 1782 from French and Spanish squadrons. Insists that sugar exports should be fine not coarse, that the larger the hogsheads the betterm with "high heading", and that thought should be given to indigo and cotton planting.

Amonf the 1782 papers are a list of the ships in service (doct. 1254); among those of 1784 is a detailed list of merchandise sent out from London for the use of the plantations (doct. 1257); the 1785 paper (1258) is a case for counsel's opinion arising out of certain morgages of Thomas Roden, with whose family the Pennants had intermarried. 11 documents.
