Alt Ref NoPENRH/1706-1708
TitleThree letters from Richard Hughes, the Penrhyn agent, to John Pennant, esq. [father of Richard, Lord Penrhyn] regarding the progress of the new survey [by Mr.George Leigh of Northwich] and the new valuation [by Mr.Samuel Wright of Knutsford], date Aug.24, 1767; Nov.19, 1767; and May 5, 1768.
DescriptionThere are references also to a dispute between the Penrhyn owners and Sir John Wynn [of Glynllifon, 1701-1773] over certain lands not clearly specified, and to the appointment of Mr. Panton [this must be the first Paul Panton of Plas Gwyn in Anglesey] as arvitrator between them. 1708 has some very pertinent remarks about the disadvantages of a "take-note" and the advantages of a lease in granting privileges to mine-speculators.
