Description | This folder contains a collection of around 85 administrative letter relating to the Penrhyn Estate Finance for Death Duties after the death of Hugh Napier Baron Penrhyn. The correspondence is mainly between the National Trust and Mr. Pennant as well as between accountants and solicitors, Carter Vincent & Co, Whinney, Smith & Whinney and Bailey,Savin & Co. The correspondence mainly discusses the Inland revenue correspondence, offering of Nant Ffrancon property and Quarry under the National Land Scheme, selling the freehold of the Quarry, and the drafting of a lease for the Quarry. There are also many handwritten notes and figures relating to the quarry with details of profit, turnover, the lease, slate tonnage and value between 1931-1946 and the mineral value in August 1955. The documents included in this folder are brochures and booklet for the Estate Duties Investment Trust Limited and a booklet called ‘Long Term and Permanent Finance for Industry’. Other booklets included in this folder is a booklet called ‘Crown Lands Abstract Accounts 1951-1952. Ordered by the House of Commons to be printed on the 28th of January 1953, London’ and ‘Estate Duty and Family Business Report on Statistical Investigation by the Board of Inland Revenue presented by the Chancellor of the Exchequer to Parliament by Command of his Majesty July 1951’.
