Description | This folder contains a collection of correspondence and documents discussing the finance and administration of the Forestry Department of the Penrhyn Estate between 1949 and 1960. The letters are from various organisations and societies related to forestry such as the Forestry Commission, Royal Forestry Society and the Co-operative Forestry Society. These letters discuss topics such as- Mr. Urquhart’s report, the Yspytty Woodland Boundary and the Penrhyn Forestry Accounts Valuation of Standing Timber and Growing Trees. There are handwritten notes and figures and a collection of black and white photographs in a small envelope with images of various trees and Janet Pennant and Richard Pennant as a small boy are seen in some of these images. There are also many documents in this folder such as a Report on Forestry Policy on Penrhyn Estate by Bruce Urquhart, Reports on the Woodlands at Penrhyn for 1954, 1956, 1957 and 1958. There is a document titled ‘ Work Programme- 1st April 1959 to 31st March 1960 with details of planting, cleaning and other tasks related to the Forestry department for this period. There is a document titled, ‘Taxation of Woodlands’. There are minutes of a meeting held at the Royal Oak Hotel, Bettws-y-Coed at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday. June 12th 1956, to form the North Wales (Private Owners) Pulpwood Marketing Committee. There are also two booklets, ‘Forestry Commission Training as a Forester published March 1955’ and ‘Dartington Woodlands Limited An Examination of the Accounts For the years 1953-54 & 1954-55 W.E Hiley, Dartington Woodlands Ltd.
