| Description | This folder contains a collection of letters and documents relating to the organisation of the volunteers of the W.R.V.S leading up to the Investiture of H.R.H Prince of Wales in Caernarfon on the 1st of July 1969. Lady Janet Douglas Pennant was heavily involved with the preparations as she assumed responsibility for the whole of the Caernarvonshire W.R.V.S for the event. Therefore there are many administrative letters between the W.R.V.S and Lady Janet Douglas Pennant relating to organising the event, with letters discussing a Nursery tent being set up for the day, invitations for the event.. There are invoices for various works carried out, handwritten notes on Investiture, lists of volunteers, letters from the Sun Alliance and London Insurance Group relating to Personal Accident Insurance for Lady Janet Douglas Pennant and Mr. J.C. Douglas Pennant for the event. There are many notes and invoices relating to providing tea for the policemen throughout the event. The collection of letters lead up to letters around the 28th of July 1971 where individuals write to Lady Janet Douglas Pennant to express their regret that she is resigning. |
