DescriptionLocal news and gossip; a clairvoyant's performance at Wrexham (whilst "in a mesmeric sleep"); Minnie's persistent colds [which seem to match hers in severity and frequency]; her youngest child's christening party (Nov. 1852); references and frequent good wishes to Kate. The opening of the Manchester Free Library in 1852 - tickets at 5 guineas each - occasions many celebrations, including a fancy-dress ball - "all the London Stars were to be there"; is sending ribbons and cuffs, and a black silk jacket, to Minnie and Kitty [at school, 1853]. The next letter is dated, 30 December 1861 and Minnie is now married to Wynn; Christmas celebrations at home. By 27 April 1867, Minnie has had her 2nd child; A E J does not like her new cook "but I think she understands the other requirements of a country house; she will get £20 a year and a kitchen maid. I gave her £16 , I have been asked £20 but would not give it. I dont know what servants will come to". In December 1868, is alarmed at the rumours that M's children have scarlet fever. By 4 March 1869 Minnie is being urged to "bring two of the children" with her on a visit.
