DescriptionMuch about the fortunes (?) of brother Edward in America; his debts and difficulties; Mary has sent him £20, as he has not (yet?) received the money from the sale of the Pant Mawr estate; he still owes £31 3s. 8d. on his farm; the recipient has asked the writer to send Edward £50, to be made up of £29 2s. 2d. due to him "from the farm", and "£20 17s.10d. due as his share from the colliery for 1842; the writer will send the money without delay, although Lydia is shortly to go to America to visit Edward; good advice to Lydia for the journey and her stay in America; structures on "poor Edward" who was "always a poor hand at a bargain"; nearer home, talks of having a mortgage on a farm-cum-public house at Gobowen; family news and good wishes.
